Café Supremo Orgánico is a coffee shop nestled in the heart of Pluma Hidalgo, a town known for its rich coffee-growing tradition. This spot doubles as both a café and a gateway to the local coffee culture, offering more than just a cup of coffee — it’s a place where visitors can connect with the land and its people.

Set on Hidalgo Street, the café exudes a laid-back, authentic vibe that fits naturally into the town’s rural pace. Visitors often come here in the morning or early afternoon to enjoy the fresh, locally grown coffee known as Café En Pluma Hidalgo. The coffee served is directly linked to the family-run plantation nearby, so each sip carries the story of its origin, from seed to roast.

What sets Café Supremo Orgánico apart is the experience tied to the coffee itself: many visitors take the opportunity to join a plantation tour hosted by Pablo and his family. This immersive walk-through covers the entire coffee production process — from planting and germination to harvesting and roasting — providing a deeper appreciation of the craft and landscape behind each cup. The atmosphere during the tour reflects a warm, personal connection, often enhanced by the presence of Latte, the family Chihuahua, who adds a homely touch.

After the tour, guests often return to the café to enjoy brunch or lunch made with local ingredients, rounding out the visit with fresh flavors in a casual setting. This combination of education, taste, and hospitality makes the café popular among visitors wanting a genuine look at Oaxacan coffee culture rather than a typical café hangout.

The best time to visit is in the morning to mid-day, aligning with tour schedules and the most active hours at the plantation. Those who appreciate food and drink with context — curious travelers and coffee enthusiasts alike — will find the atmosphere thoughtful but unpretentious, with plenty of opportunity to chat with knowledgeable local hosts.

For locals, Café Supremo Orgánico isn’t just a coffee stop but a symbol of their coffee heritage, offering a place to share the story of their land with others while enjoying excellent coffee and simple, honest food.

Amazing morning with Pablo (and Latte the Chihuahua) who showed us around his family’s coffee farm, talked us through the process from planting to roasting. Delicious coffee and brunch back at the cafe afterwards. 300 pesos each. 10/10 recommend.

Couldn’t recommend this place more. Go here. Do the coffee plantation tour. Have lunch. I learnt so much about coffee, the place. The guiding was fantastic, as was the food. A must do !

We did a tour with Pablo from Cafe Supremo. It was such a special experience. We got to see the whole process from germination, to harvesting, to preparing into coffee. We also had lunch at the cafe. I would recommend 100 percent. Also, their coffee is delicious and the family is wonderful.

We booked a tour of the coffee plantation which included a delicious breakfast and an explanation of the coffee production process. We were hosted by Pablo (plus his chihuahua Latte) who was excellent - really informative and engaging. Total cost was $300 pesos per person, although we were unable to resist buying a bag of coffee on our way out!

Had a great coffee tour here! We just dropped in, and they took us to their coffee plantation by moto taxi, where we had a tour with a really nice guide and had a chance to pick coffee fruits and do some of the processing. And then coffee tasting with snacks back at the shop! The hosts were really lovely and welcoming. The tour costed just 100mxn per person, and was in Spanish, though they said at other times English may also be possible.

What a day to remember! From start to finish, Pablo and his family made us feel right at home. We learned heaps about coffee’s history in the area (they’re 4th generation farmers) and we saw the entire process from cultivation to roasting. The beans are phenomenal too. We got the medium roast and have been making it in our hotel coffee maker.. usually we are not fans of drip coffee — but the roast is so powerful and expressive that it transforms drip into something truly remarkable! Pablo’s mom also made us a delicious lunch which we were blown away by. She’s a fantastic chef! All in all, we would recommend this to anybody who drinks (or has ever drank) coffee. It’s a phenomenal opportunity to understand the painstaking process, and the labour of love, that it takes to make 1 single cup. Thank you for such a wonderful experience! (And… Special shout out to their new puppy, Latté, who I couldn’t keep my eyes off of!!)
